Qualities of a Good Teacher!


A Good Teacher should possess and improve the following attributes to be really called a ‘Good Teacher’ :

  • A teacher shall have to be knowledgeable.
  • A teacher shall have to continue to always a student and update his knowledge.
  • A teacher shall have an analytical mind and try to develop analytical mind of his students.
  • A teacher has to be kind and compassionate and at the same time be passionate.
  • A teacher should have necessary patience to answer the Questions of his students.
  • A teacher has to be a friend, mentor, counseler, guide, and philosopher to his students and adopt always a caring attitude.
  • A teacher has to be always cheerful.
  • A teacher has to be disciplinarian himself to inculcate discipline among his students.
  • A teacher should have necessary confidence to deal with his subjects and students.
  • A teacher should have commitment.
  • A teacher has to be a leader and build team spirit among his students.
  • A teacher has to be a humane person.
  • A teacher has to be humorous too.
  • A teacher should be a visionary person.
  • A teacher should be a person of integrity and character.
  • A teacher should be capable of initiating any new moves.
  • A teacher has to be innovative.
  • A teacher has to have an impressive voice.
  • A teacher has to possess effective oral and written communication skills.
  • A teacher has to be always accessible to his students.
  • A teacher has to be punctual.
  • A teacher should never have intellectual arrogance.
  • A teacher has to be a parent substitute.
  • A teacher has to welcome CHANGE!
  • A teacher has to be an acceptable behavioural role model following always highest ethical standards.

  • Therefore, teachers have to play a vital, active and decisive role in fostering universal education and promoting and developing the values and vision in the society. They are the engines of the natural growth in themselves. A teacher must succeed in conveying the larger ideals of service to the community. They are to teach the importance of CHARACTER, INTEGRITY, DISCIPLINE, and the VALUES OF HUMANISM to the students, so that our educational institutions become the nurseries, not only of good students but of good citizens as well !
